Title

Authorizing the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $15,000 from the Sewer Operating Fund to provide payment for annual membership dues to Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) for 2025; and declaring an emergency.

 

Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Per ORC 3781.26(A), the Division of Sewer & Drainage Services is required to be a member of an underground protection service. OUPS is the service provider in Ohio and provides notification to mark locations for individuals and contractors who are going to dig and helps to ensure the safety of individuals and contractors doing construction. This Ordinance authorizes payment of the annual 2025 membership fees for Sewer & Drainage Services.

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1. That the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $15,000 is authorized from the Sewer Operating Fund Account Code 6070-37000-4000510ADMSUP for payment of the City of Toledo Department of Public Utilities, Division Sewer & Drainage Services annual 2025 membership fees to the Ohio Utilities Protection Service.

                                         

SECTION 2.  That the Finance Director is authorized to issue their warrant or warrants against the Account Code identified in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $15,000 in in payment of the above-authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

                    

                     SECTION 3.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that expenditure is needed for prompt payment of Sewer & Drainage Services’ OUPS fees.
