Title

Authorizing acceptance, deposit, appropriation and expenditure of settlement proceeds from the Ford Motor Company in the amount of $89,272 into the Capital Improvement Fund; authorizing the Mayor to accept bids and award contracts for the purchase of a Pursuit Ready vehicle and other necessary items to outfit the vehicle for patrols; and declaring an emergency.

Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

In April 2026, a 2025 Ford Explorer Police unit experienced a catastrophic fire that destroyed the vehicle.  The City of Toledo Fleet Manager in cooperation with the City Law Department negotiated a settlement of $89,272 to reimburse the City for the loss of the vehicle and associated equipment. It is the intent of the Fleet Division to utilize this settlement to purchase a new police cruiser and associated equipment necessary for patrols.
