Recognizing Albert “Prince” Bell for winning the World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Featherweight Continental Americas Championship belt.
Summary
WHEREAS, Toledo, Ohio Super Featherweight Albert “Prince” Bell (15-0, 5 KOs) won the World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Featherweight Continental Americas Championship belt; and
WHEREAS, the 2011 Rogers High School graduate, had an amateur record of an impressive 128-18, after boxing for 11 years with 36 championships, including two national titles; and
WHEREAS, in May of 2012, Bell won his Golden Gloves by defeating New York’s Bryant Cruz roughly six months after collecting a Police Athletic League (PAL) open division 132-pound national championship in front of a hometown crowd against Toka Kahn Clary; and
WHEREAS, June 8, 2019, Toledo boxer Albert Bell shined under the big lights in a bout against Andy Vences (22-0-1 12 KOs) in an ESPN nationally televised undercard, 10-rounder at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, and he came away with a belt; and
WHEREAS, “In my first 10-rounder, I went out there and put my undefeated record on the line against a top guy,” Bell said “I’ve been counted out, and this shows that I’m a fighter to be taken seriously at 130 pounds”; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Bell represents his community on a national level as a professional boxer, and locally as an organizer of a turkey drive every year to help families in need and is a mentor to youth in the community. NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we recognize Toledo resident, Super Featherweight Albert “Prince” Bell on his WBC Super Featherweight Continental Americas Championship and his dedication to the community.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
