SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

A District Improvement Program application has been submitted to provide funding for a new playground at Elmhurst Park located at 4553 Garrison Road. The District Improvement Review Committee convened on October 25, 2024, and recommended approval of this application in an amount of $100,000.

This ordinance authorizes the additional expenditure of $100,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund 2024 budget under Parks and Youth Services to further support this playground replacement.

 

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1. That the amount not to exceed $100,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-40100-8CP2413ELMPRK for a new playground at Elmhurst Park.

 

SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids or utilize cooperative purchasing programs and enter into contracts for the purpose authorized in Section 1, upon such terms and conditions as shall be approved by the Director of Parks and Youth Services and the Director of Law.

 

SECTION 3. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the above Account Code in payment of the above authorized obligations in an amount not to exceed $100,000 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective to install the playground in a timely manner.

 

Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 12, nays 0.
