Summary

WHEREAS, Kei’Mani Latigue was born on March 28, 2011. Kei’Mani, a student at Spring Elementary, was known for her academic achievements, athleticism, determination, and, above all, her kindness and compassion; and

 

WHEREAS, Kei’Mani is remembered with a deep love and admiration by her family, friends, classmates, and members of the community; and

 

WHEREAS, Kei’Mani’s life has had the power to bring together everyone within the Toledo community as seen in the outpouring of grief, support, unity, and memorials; and

 

WHEREAS, Kei’Mani’s life and legacy serves as a reminder of the value of every child’s life and symbolizes the community’s commitment to change; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Honor met on May 7, 2026 and recommended that Wilmot Street be dedicated as “Kei’Mani Latigue Way” in order to properly recognize and celebrate her life and legacy.

 

NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.    That the City of Toledo hereby recognizes the honorary dedication of Wilmot Street as “Kei’Mani Latigue Way.”

 

                      SECTION 2.  It is hereby found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and its committees that resulted in such formal actions, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements including Section 121.22 of the Revised Code of Ohio and that the reading and adoption of this Resolution complies with the provisions of the City Charter, as amended.

 

            SECTION 3.   This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the earliest date allowed by law.
