SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Curb and valve boxes are used in every service line by the city of Toledo and surrounding areas.  They are put in place to access the curb stop to turn the water on and off for customers. 

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and enter into contract for an initial term of one (1) year with three (3) one-year renewal options for the purchase of curb and valve boxes for water repairs, upon such terms and conditions as the Director of Public Utilities and the Director of Law deem requisite and proper.

 

SECTION 2.  That subject to annual appropriation an amount not to exceed $400,000 is authorized for expenditure annually for the contract authorized in Section 1 from the Water Operating Fund, Account Code 6060-34000-4000514STDSTD, for purchase of curb and valve boxes.

 

SECTION 3. That the Director of Finance is authorized to issue their warrant or warrants against the Account Code listed in Section 2 in the amounts not to exceed those authorized above for the purchase of curb and valve boxes upon the presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to repair and maintain critical elements in the city’s water distribution system.
