Recognizing David Calzone for 31 Years of Dedicated Service to the City of Toledo.

 

Summary

WHEREAS, David Calzone has faithfully served the residents of Toledo for thirty-one years, and will retire on January 29th, 2026; and

 

WHEREAS, David began his career with the City of Toledo in October 1994 as a Utility Worker in the Division of Streets, Bridges, and Harbor, later advancing to Senior Utility Worker (Street Maintenance Technician) and then to Heavy Equipment Operator; and

 

WHEREAS, David married the love of his life, Anne’, in 1998, and this past summer they celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary; together they proudly raised two sons, Seth and Dawson, here in Toledo; and

 

WHEREAS, in June of 2010, David was promoted to General Foreman for Streets, Bridges, and Harbor, and subsequently to Supervisor of Street Operations, consistently demonstrating hard work, commitment, and exemplary leadership; and

 

WHEREAS, for the past three years, David has served the City of Toledo as Superintendent of Urban Beautification, where he helped manage safety and logistics for forty-six Clean Toledo events in partnership with Environmental Services, oversaw multiple leaf collection seasons, co-managed the safe clearing of city streets during snow and ice events, and directed the day-to-day operations of Urban Beautification cleaning crews; and

 

WHEREAS, during the July 2023 tornado event, David played a critical role in storm response efforts, working tirelessly to help clear debris, reopen city streets, and support residents during an unprecedented and challenging moment for the community; and

 

WHEREAS, David is a dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he proudly operates the sound booth in service to his community; and

 

WHEREAS, in retirement, David looks forward to building a homestead in South Carolina, growing produce, spending quality time with family, and rekindling his love for the outdoors and hunting-activities he often put aside during leaf collection seasons;

 

NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1: That we recognize David Calzone for his exceptional career in public service, and inspiring dedication to his teams and to the entirety of the City of Toledo.

 

SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
