SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

This Ordinance authorizes the total expenditure of $42,000 for body armor from Vance Outdoors, Inc. A request for body armor bids was placed on Planet Bids and Vance Outdoors, Inc. was the winning bidder. This expenditure request is needed to replace body armor. 

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract for the purchase of body armor upon such terms and conditions as acceptable to the Director of the Department of Police Operations and the Department of Law.

 

           SECTION 2.  That the amount not to exceed $40,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-52000-8CP2504POLEQP for the purchase of body armor.

 

           SECTION 3.  That the amount not to exceed $2,000 is authorized for expenditure from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-52000-3381002STDSTD, for the purchase of body armor.

 

SECTION 4. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Codes in payment of the obligations authorized in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $42,000 and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 5.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely procure safety equipment for Toledo police officers.
