SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Due to procurement lead times and minimum inventory requirements for essential treatment chemicals used at both the Water Treatment Plant and the Water Reclamation Plant, it is necessary to enact this additional appropriation to ensure sufficient funding is available to support continuous and uninterrupted operations.

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1. That the appropriation of $2,500,000 is authorized to the Water Operating Fund Account Code 6060-32000-4000503STDSTD for ordinary expenses to maintain necessary and required inventory of bulk chemicals at the Collins Park Water Treatment Plant.

 

                     SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $500,000 is authorized to the Sewer Operating Fund Account Code 6070-36000-4000507STDSTD for ordinary expenses to maintain necessary and required inventory of bulk chemicals at the Bay View Water Reclamation Plant.

 

                     SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be effective immediately in order to maintain the supply of potable water to the region as well as the treatment of waste water.
