SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Toledo-Lucas County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council has recommended to the Office of Criminal Justice Services an award to the City of Toledo of $12,370.81 in accordance with the provisions of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) as enacted by the 103rd Congress, and in accordance with the Department of Justice (DOJ), Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). There is a required 25% local match in the amount of $4,123.59 for a project total amount of $16,494.40. The entirety of the project amount will be used to update and improve the victims’ waiting room at the Toledo Municipal Court.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and to accept and deposit Violence Against Women Act Grant proceeds in the amount of $12,370.81 into the Operation Grants Fund Account Code 2016-10800-3G19473STDSTD for the improvement to the victims’ waiting room at the Toledo Municipal Court.
SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $12,370.81 from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund is authorized to Account Code 2016-10800-3G19473STDSTD; and the expenditure of same is authorized for the Toledo Municipal Court.
SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the above-mentioned Account Code in an amount not to exceed $12,370.81 in payment of the obligations authorized above by the terms of the grant upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective to satisfy grant requirements and improve the victims’ waiting room at the Toledo Municipal Court.
