SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The National League of Cities (NLC) is an organization comprised of city leaders that are focused on improving the quality of life for their current and future constituents. Their mission is to relentlessly advocate for, and project the interests of cities, by influencing federal policy, strengthening local leadership and driving innovative solutions. The 2026 City Council Budget has an appropriation for this anticipated expenditure.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That an amount not to exceed $17,366.00 is authorized for expenditure from the General Fund, Account Code 1001-10100-537650-1112001STDSTD, for payment of 2026 membership dues to the National League of Cities (NLC).
SECTION 2. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw a warrant against the above account code in an amount not to exceed $17,366.00 in payment of the above-authorized obligation upon presentation of the proper voucher.
SECTION 3. That this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance is needed for the prompt payment of 2026 membership dues to the National League of Cities (NLC). In addition, the City of Toledo’s 2025 NLC Membership expires on March 31, 2026.
