Title

Authorizing the disappropriation and reappropriation of $38,002 within the Water Replacement Fund for materials needed for the emergency replacement of the watermain on Galena Street and Chase Street; and declaring an emergency.

Body

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

This ordinance authorizes the reappropriation of funds within the 2023 Approved Operating Budget to proceed with the purchase of materials needed for the emergency replacement of the Watermain on Galena Street and Chase Street approved under ordinance 148-23. This adjustment will move available funding from another expense account code within the same fund and functional area to the appropriate expense account codes to maintain proper accounting of expenses. This ordinance is necessary as current rules require council authorization for any adjustments over $25,000.

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the disappropriation of $38,002 is authorized from the Water Replacement Fund Account Code 6063-34000-537561-4UC2523STDSTD.

SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $38,002 is authorized to Water Replacement Fund Account Code 6063-34000-525300-4UC2523STDSTD for the purchase of materials needed authorized by Ord. 148-23.

SECTION 3.                     That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property of the city and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to permit the earliest possible payment to vendors for critical materials needed in the City of Toledo’s water distribution system.
