SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
In an effort to further activate downtown Toledo and enhance its vibrancy, ConnecToledo is launching a free Summer Concert Series at Promenade Park in 2025. Running every Friday from May 30 to August 29, the series will feature local and regional bands and be open to the public. The 2025 Summer Concert Series is part of a broader activation strategy inspired by the popular Party in the Park events of the 1980s and 1990s.
ConnecToledo is committing more than $200,000 to this initiative and is working closely with the City of Toledo and other partners to ensure a first-class experience for the community. To further support this effort, the City is proposing a $50,000 grant to ConnecToledo, reinforcing its commitment to making downtown Toledo a premier destination for residents and visitors alike.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a grant agreement with ConnecToledo related to 2025 Summer Concert Series at Promenade Park, upon such terms and conditions shall be approved by the Director of Economic Development and the Director of Law.
SECTION 2. That the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $50,000 is authorized from the General Fund Account Code 1001-16400-5661001STDSTD for expenditure as grant proceeds to ConnecToledo for the 2025 Summer Concert Series at Promenade Park.
SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to issue their warrant or warrants against the account code identified in Section 2 above in amounts not to exceed $50,000 in payment pursuant to the contracts authorized in Section 1 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective to provide funding for the concert series.
