Recognizing and Congratulating the 2025-2026 Toledo Area Class of United States Department of State High School Foreign Exchange Students and Designating Them as Honorary City of Toledo Citizens
Summary
WHEREAS, Toledo-area high schools annually welcome outstanding students through the United States Department of State Foreign Exchange Program, providing valuable opportunities for cultural exchange and international understanding; and
WHEREAS, the students selected for participation undergo a highly competitive process within their respective countries and are recognized among the most accomplished and promising young representatives of their nations; and
WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 class of exchange students proudly represented the nations of Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mali, Palestine (West Bank), Liberia, Mozambique, Ukraine, Mongolia, and Germany, including students from Toledo Sister City regions located in Tanga, Tanzania and Coburg, Germany; and
WHEREAS, throughout their academic year in Toledo, these students have enriched local schools and communities while experiencing the generosity, friendship, and hospitality extended by their host families and the citizens of Toledo.
NOW THEREFORE, Be it resolved that:
SECTION 1. That, 2025-2026 Toledo Area Class of United States Department of State High School Foreign Exchange Students are recognized and congratulated on the successful completion of their academic year and required program activities.
SECTION 2. That each member of the class be presented with an honorary City of Toledo Citizenship Resolution Certificate in recognition of the meaningful cultural experiences shared with their host families, schools, and community, and as a lasting reminder that they will always be warmly welcomed back to the City of Toledo.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
