SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The Division of Road and Bridge Maintenance is requesting the expenditure of an amount not to exceed $800,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund for the continued construction and improvements to the MLK Bridge.  The appropriation for this funding was approved through the 2025 CIP Plan, Ord. 33-25.

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1.  That an amount not to exceed $800,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-23100-8CP2517MLKBRD for the MLK Bridge project.

 

SECTION 2.  That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and enter into contracts necessary for the MLK Bridge project, including such items as labor, materials, construction testing and professional services.  Contracts and agreements shall contain such terms and conditions as the Mayor may deem requisite and proper and shall be subject to approval by the Directors of Law and Transportation.

 

SECTION 3.  That the Finance Director is authorized to issue their warrant or warrants against the Account Code identified in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $800,000 in payment of the obligations incurred pursuant to the contracts authorized in Section 2 upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 4.                     That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to complete construction and inspection work in a timely manner.
