SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, Inc. is a nonprofit organization and trusted partner dedicated to environmental stewardship and sustainability throughout Toledo and Lucas County. Through a wide range of programs, they provide the tools, educational services, and support necessary for helping maintain a clean and vibrant Toledo. The City of Toledo has historically supported KTLCB in these efforts. KTLCB provides supplies and logistical support for cleanups in neighborhoods, parks, public spaces, and key corridors. Annually they distribute approximately 9,000 bags, 4,500 pairs of gloves, 275 safety vests, and 800 litter tongs. Demand for these services continues to grow, therefore contributing to our community partner will help the City continue to build safe and vibrant neighborhoods.
Summary
NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the amount of 75,000 is authorized for expenditure from the General Fund Account Code 1001-27100-1123001STDSTD for the annual contribution to Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, Inc.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into an agreement with Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, Inc for neighborhood clean-ups, Litter League, and recycling programs upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Public Service and the Director of Law.
SECTION 3. That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his or her warrant or warrants against the Account Code in Section 1 in payment of the above authorized obligations in for the amount of $75,000 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the same is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to facilitate community clean-ups and litter abatement.
