Recognizing June 22nd -June 28th, 2025 as Italian Heritage Week
Summary
WHEREAS, the City of Toledo is proud to recognize and celebrate the rich cultural heritage, traditions, and contributions of Italian Americans, whose history is deeply woven into the social, civic, and economic fabric of our city; and
WHEREAS, Italian Heritage Week, observed from June 22 to June 28, 2025, provides a meaningful opportunity to honor the values of family, faith, hard work, and community that define the Italian American experience; and
WHEREAS, generations of Italian immigrants and their descendants have made lasting impacts on Toledo through their dedication to entrepreneurship, public service, the arts, education, and the culinary and construction trades, among many others; and
WHEREAS, neighborhoods throughout Toledo-including the Little Italy area-reflect the enduring legacy and cultural pride of Italian American families who have built strong communities and preserved vibrant traditions; and
WHEREAS, Italian Heritage Week is a time to highlight cultural celebrations, historical awareness, and unity, and to recognize individuals and organizations that continue to uplift and promote Italian American identity across the city; and
WHEREAS, the City of Toledo encourages all residents to join in recognizing and celebrating the achievements, heritage, and ongoing contributions of Italian Americans to our shared community.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City Of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the week of June 22-28, 2025, is hereby recognized as Italian Heritage Week in the City of Toledo.
SECTION 2. That the City of Toledo proudly honors the Italian American community and encourages all citizens to participate in the celebration of Italian culture, traditions, and contributions to our city.
