Authorizing the Mayor to accept, deposit, appropriate, and expend Financial Sponsorships and Donations for the Annual Homeownership Fair; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

Historically, the month of June is celebrated as National Homeownership Month. In partnership with local housing counseling agencies, financial opportunities centers, city departments, nonprofit organization, banks, and realtors, The Department of Housing and Community Development will host its first annual Homeownership Fair on June 22, 2024. The theme of the Homeownership Fair is “Find Your Way Home: Unlock the Door to Homeownership”.

 

Financial sponsorships and donations will support advertising, resource materials and all implementation costs for the first annual Homeownership Fair commencing June 22, 2024.

 

Summary

NOW THEREFORE Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to accept donations from sponsors and donors and deposit the amount received into the Operation Grants Fund Account Code 2016- 2016-16200-5GA2024HMFAIR for the purpose of funding the annual Homeownership Fair.

 

                     SECTION 2.                       That appropriations in an amount not to exceed the unencumbered balance of Operations Grants Fund Account Code 2016-16200-5GA2024HMFAIR are authorized, and expenditures of the same are authorized for implementation costs for the annual Homeownership Fair.

 

                     SECTION 3.  That the Mayor is authorized to enter into any necessary agreements for the purposes listed herein subject to the terms and conditions deemed proper and requisite according to the Director of Housing and Community Development and the Director of Law.

 

                     SECTION 4.  That the Finance Director is authorized to issue their warrant or warrants in amounts not to exceed the unencumbered balance in payment of obligations authorized above against the above Account Code upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

 

                     SECTION 5.                       That this Ordinance is declared an emergency measure and shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that it must be immediately effective in order to permit the City to operate the annual Homeownership Fair.

 

Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 12, nays 0.
