SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The City of Toledo, Division of Urban Beautification - Forestry Operations has been awarded funds granted by the Arbor Day Foundation and corporate sponsor Linde to support the planting of eighty (80) street trees in the public right of way for the 900 - 1200 block of Waverly Avenue. This is a grant for $17,600. Work on the Waverly Tree Canopy Expansion Project will be complete no later than November 30th, 2023.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a grant agreement and accept and deposit grant funds from the Arbor Day Foundation in an amount not to exceed $17,600 into the Operation Grants Fund Account Code 2016-27100-2GA3892STDSTD for the planting of eighty (80) trees in the public right of way on Waverly Avenue.
SECTION 2. That the appropriation of $17,600 is authorized from the unappropriated grant proceeds of the Operation Grants Fund to Account Code 2016-27100-2GA3892STDSTD and the expenditure of same is authorized for the planting of eighty (80) street trees in the public right of way on Waverly Avenue.
SECTION 3. That the Mayor is authorized to accept bids and award contracts for the purposes specified above, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Public Service and Director of Law.
SECTION 4. That the Finance Department is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the Account Code above in an amount not to exceed $17,600 in payment of the above-authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 5. That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that the Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective to timely receipt, deposit and expend the grant funds.
