Referral Response:
How many property owners received a summons regarding noncompliance with the lead laws?
A total of 274 property owners received a summons.
What was the process for identifying these property owners?
The City used the Lucas County Rental Registration database to identify rental properties subject to the applicable compliance deadline. Properties that remained noncompliant after the deadline received a Notice of Violation. If the property remained noncompliant 45 days after receipt of the notice, the case was referred to Housing Court.
Were notices sent only to property owners the City believed were noncompliant?
Yes. Notices were sent only to property owners whose properties were identified as noncompliant based on the information available to the City at that time.
