Body

Referral Response:

We are currently and have been awaiting a response from the Ohio EPA Division of Materials and Waste Management (DMWM) regarding the environmental impacts of additional spent lime placement. However, the City of Toledo will no longer be transporting or disposing of spent lime at the Angola Road property as a part of this contract.

If any material were to be considered for use at any site, it would be subject to full evaluation, permitting, and oversight under Ohio EPA requirements. Those regulatory safeguards are designed to ensure there are no off-site impacts to surrounding neighborhoods. The Ohio EPA review process is specifically intended to assess and confirm that such protections are adequate prior to any approval, and the agency is the appropriate authority to address these technical environmental concerns. We will let you know once we receive their response.
