How often is regular maintenance or painting performed on city fire hydrants?

Referral Response:
AWWA standards require annual flushing and inspection of hydrants and maintenance every five years. We are very close to hitting our target of proper maintenance every five years for all 13,000 hydrants. We have developed an SOP and will staff the hydrant team appropriately to achieve that goal.
