Title

From:   Councilwoman McPherson                     Response Requested:                      2/27/2026

What is the process and Protocols when there is a water main break? Who’s responsible to respond? Why would we allow water to run for more than 1 day without service &/or repair?

Body

Referral Response:

Call received to Engage Toledo

•                     If call is received from 7:00a-11:00p, Emergency staff evaluates leak and notifies General Foreman

•                     General Foreman has foreman respond and begin to call in a crew for repair

If call is between 11:00p-7:00a

The on-call duty foreman responds to leak and begins to call in a crew for repair. If the on-call foreman cannot get a crew in or determines the leak can wait until the next morning or next business day, that is their subjective call to make. Although this does not happen often, we have had recent instances where the foreman could not get a crew and the leak would need to wait to be repaired.
