Referral Response:

Please see the attached communication strategy document.

For lead pipes, we do not tell the resident what their service line material is. We use the language below, stating that their home has been identified as a candidate for the program.

“Dear Neighbor, The City of Toledo is committed to replacing all service lines on both the city-owned and customer-owned portion of the water service lines that are made of lead or galvanized iron when it is downstream from lead service connections. Your home has been identified as a candidate for this program.”

The mandatory lead information is included in the notices, so there may be some confusion from that.

The language states that we must provide notice within 45-days and before the repair. The Lead Replacement Contractor gives notice prior to the work within 45 days but typically around a week before the work.
