When looking at the need for replacement, there is no set policy or industry standard. When determining vehicle replacement cycles, Fleet Operations considers the type of use, mileage, maintenance, and repair costs. Based on the continuous use, mileage, maintenance and repair costs the city has determined it is most effective to replace police vehicles at the three-year mark, passenger vehicles at the seven to ten-year mark and equipment based on run time hours and use which varies by department and service.
