Dog Warden Call-outs

11-19-2024

Title

From:                        Council Member Gadus   Response Requested: ASAP

How many after hour calls to LCC&C were made in 2022? If the warden does not catch the dog within the 4 hour time period, what is the protocol to catch the aggressive dog?

Body

Referral Response:

There were 381 calls for service in 2022.

In most emergency situations, it would not take 4 hours to capture and seize a dog that is menacing or acting aggressively. A dog in that state is more likely to charge our officers than to flee. In the rare event that a dog remains at large, the officers would set a live trap in the area to attempt to capture it.
