Average cost per defendant per month for electronic monitoring
Toledo Municipal Court clients pay $14 per day for EM.
How long does it take for Law Enforcement to be notified of an electronic monitoring violation?
Different violations have different response times. If the case is victim driven and the client violates an established exclusionary zone (such as entering a 1000-foot radius of the victim's home) or tampers with the device, Lucas County EM notifies law enforcement within minutes. In these situations, the client is contacted and instructed to leave the exclusion zone immediately. Additionally, Lucas County EM notifies the victim of the client's presence in the exclusion zone and that law enforcement has been alerted.
A non-victim driven case may have a violation for an unauthorized leave of an inclusion zone (such as restricting the client's movement to a 500-foot radius of their own home). If the client travels outside inclusion zone for between 15 minutes and 2 hours, it will result in EM issuing a warrant.
What percentage of electronic monitoring participants fail?
Since January 1, 2024, there have been a total of 64 violations issued by Lucas County EM totaling a less than 4% violation rate.
