REFERRAL:

Is there currently Community Policing going on in the city of Toledo? If so what areas, and if not, why not?

RESPONSE:

The Toledo Police Department implements aspects of community policing every time we engage with the public.  Each of our officers have been trained in community policing and the concept has been practiced in Toledo for over 25 years.  We currently have a specialized Community Services Unit made up of eight community services officers, a sergeant and lieutenant.  Together they specifically handle the Engage Toledo complaints, neighbor problems, community issues, foot patrols and bike patrols throughout the city.  They also attend nearly all neighborhood and community meetings throughout the city.
