Referral Response:

TO: Councilwoman McPherson

FROM: Director Michael Niedzielski

1.                     How many COT employees have left their employment in the last 3 months?

50 employees have left City employment in the last 3 months (March 1 - May 31, 2024)

2.                     STOP-It? Provide an update, is this being used? Can you provide any numbers?

There have been 11 Stop-It submissions since 1/1/2024. The most recent submission was 5/22/2024. All are closed and there are none pending.

3.                     Are you noticing any specific workforce issues in different depts that you can identify?

In general, we struggle with filling positions that require licenses or certifications. For example, Engineer, Water Control Room Operator, and Water Reclamation Operator positions require certifications from the Ohio EPA and are more difficult to fill quickly.  Most recently we have struggled to fill managerial or technical positions in Information Technology (IT), which we believe is due in part to low salary ranges that are below the IT job market.

4.                     What job openings in the city are out there? Including management.
