Body

Referral Response:

1.                     Does the City factor in traffic counts when determining where sidewalks are beneficial?

We do not use traffic counts when determining sidewalks. We consider the following factors:

-                     Are there existing sidewalks that it can connect to

-                     Are there complaints that the sidewalk is needed

-                     Are there parks, schools, or churches in the area that a sidewalk would make it safer to walk to

2.                     What criteria is used to determine whether a street is reconstructed or reclaimed?

-                     If the base (the layer under the asphalt surface) is concrete or brick the road has to be reconstructed.

-                     If the base is made up of additional layers of asphalt it can be reclaimed.
