Subject: Referral #072-24, dated April 17, 2024
REFERRAL:
Do the readers have misdemeanors such as unpaid traffic tickets or other misdemeanors?
Do TPD officers stop these people?
How successful have the readers been in arresting individuals?
RESPONSE:
The FLOCK cameras do not pick up on traffic related misdemeanors (e.g. no speeding citations, no red-light citations). The FLOCK cameras also do not flag unpaid traffic citations, suspended driver’s licenses, expired license plates or any other misdemeanor. Any traffic stops an officer would make would not be based off of the FLOCK system.
The FLOCK cameras will alert on felony warrants, missing persons, AMBER Alerts etc. Since FLOCK was adopted it has been instrumental in solving investigations ranging from homicides to hit-skip accidents.
