Recognizing the American Cultural Exchange Service and their students for completion of the 2022 - 2023 school year and their contributions to the community.
Summary
WHEREAS, the American Cultural Exchange Service is an exchange program, which includes a high school exchange allowing students from outside of the United States to live for a year in communities in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan; and
WHEREAS, students participating in the program take part in enrichment activities to develop and improve their leadership potential; and
WHEREAS, students complete volunteer hours with various charitable organizations resulting in the betterment of the communities in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan; and
WHEREAS, students have completed the 2022 - 2023 school year as part of the American Cultural Exchange Service; and
WHEREAS, the class of 2022-2023 was the first to participate in a hands-on job shadowing opportunity with the members and staff of the Toledo City Council, where they attended a weekly staff meeting, participated in discussions pertaining to American style federal, state and local government, sharing information about their home countries, and attending an Agenda Review meeting of the Council; and
WHEREAS, the encounter between the students, staff, and members proved to be an enriching and valuable learning experience for all involved; and
WHEREAS, Toledo City Council recognizes the positive impact that cultural exchange programs have on both the participants and the communities that the participants live throughout the world; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the American Cultural Exchange Service and its students are hereby recognized and commended for the completion of the 2022 - 2023 school year and Toledo City Council gives sincere wishes for their continued success.
