SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the expenditure of $171,000 for body armor from Superior Uniform Sales, Inc. A request for body armor bids was placed on Planet Bids and Superior Uniform Sales, Inc. was the winning bidder. This CIP expenditure request is for the first year of the body armor contract with Superior Uniform Sales, Inc.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the amount not to exceed $171,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-52000-8CP2309POLEQP for the purchase of body armor.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into one-year contract with two one-year renewal options for the purchase of body armor, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Police and the Director of Law.
SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw a warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Code in payment of the obligation authorized in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $171,000 and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.
SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely procure safety equipment for Toledo police officers.
