SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Shot Spotter (SST, Inc.) is the global leader in gunfire detection and location technology providing the most trusted, scalable and reliable gunfire alert and analysis available today. Shot Spotter uses an array of acoustic sensors that reliably detect and accurately locate gunshots. This expenditure request is for the 2023 annual cost of 4 square miles. The funds for the first year costs for Shot Spotter were provided by the United States Bureau of Justice Assistance Technology Innovation for Public Safety (TIPS) grant (Ord. 442-18). This CIP expenditure request is for the fifth year of a six year agreement (Ord. 141-20).

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the amount not to exceed $280,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Improvement Fund Account Code 5040-52000-8CP2119SHO005 for the annual subscription cost for Shot Spotter gunshot detection.

SECTION 2. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Code in payment of the obligation authorized in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $280,000 and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

SECTION 3. This Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property, and to continue the operation of the Shot Spotter system.
