SUMMARY & BACKGROUND
The North Cross Sanitary Pump Station serves the North Cross Industrial Park located near the intersection of Alexis Road and Suder Avenue in North Toledo. On January 4, 2023, a cave-in was reported by a Water Reclamation crew on the discharge side of the pump station. Due to the urgent situation and to avoid interruption of operations at the industrial park, Water Reclamation contracted with E&K Contractors to repair the force main and the pump station resumed unmanned operation on January 5, 2023.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the appropriation of $15,623 from the unappropriated balance of the Sewer Replacement Fund to Account Code 6073-36000-4UC4023STDSTD for emergency repairs to the force main associated with the North Cross Sanitary Pump Station is authorized; and the expenditure of the same is authorized.

SECTION 2. That the mayor is authorized to award an emergency contract to and pay E&K Contractors for emergency repairs to the force main associated with the North Cross Sanitary Pump Station, upon terms and conditions approved by the Director of Public Utilities and the Director of Law.

SECTION 3. That Council finds and determines that, pursuant to TMC Chapter 187.20, formal competitive bidding was waived for the reason that it was an emergency that could not have been reasonably foreseen and would result in an interruption or detriment to utility services and the repair cost has been deemed reasonable by the ...
