Authorizing the Mayor to execute and deliver needed instruments for the acquisition of the real property known as the Scott Park District Police Station located at 2225 Nebraska Avenue and the Scott Park Baseball/Softball Complex from the State of Ohio; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Since 1967, the City of Toledo has leased from the State of Ohio and the University of Toledo, parts of the Scott Park campus. One of the leased areas is used for the Toledo Police Department's Scott Park District Station and the location of the annual Sate-T-City educational program. The other leased area is used for the Scott Park Baseball/Softball Complex.

The State of Ohio/University of Toledo is seeking to exit the Scott Park Campus, and has offered to sell 29.412 acres of land that is currently used by the City of Toledo to the City for One Dollar ($1.00). The State authorized the sale of the Scott Park Campus in June of 2020.

A survey to split the parcel for transfer to the City has been completed and agreed to by the State of Ohio, establishing the property to be transferred to the City.

This ordinance is necessary to authorize the acceptance of said property from the State of Ohio allowing the continued use of the City's recreation and public safety facilities on the property.

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to execute and deliver such deeds, certifications, purchase agreements, and instruments as are necessary for the acceptance and acquisition of the real property located at 225 Nebraska Avenue (TD 18 Parcel 04802) more fully described in the attached Exhibit A and depicted in Exhibit B.
