Recognizing Robin Reese for 38 years of dedication and advocacy for the children in Lucas County.
Summary
WHEREAS, Lucas County Children Services (LCCS) Executive Director, Robin Reese retired at the end of October 2022; where she advocated and protected Lucas County children from abuse and neglect for 38 years; and
WHEREAS, Robin started at LCCS in 1984, as a caseworker, then advanced to manager of the Placement Department in 1988, and was named executive director in 2016; and
WHEREAS, Robin guided the agency through state and federal changes in child protection practice and funding; stabilized the agency's finances by passing several tax levies; and maintained child protection standards during the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, Robin believed in cultivated relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including board members, elected officials, and community leaders, and most recently began a diversity, equity, and inclusion initiative, with the long-term goal of reducing the disproportionate number of Black children in the child protection system; and
WHEREAS, Robin's dedication extended beyond Lucas County; she sat on many statewide panels, and frequently advised Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and his staff on child welfare matters; she also worked closely with other national organizations to influence social work practice on a national level; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That we recognize Robin Reese for her dedication to the children of Lucas County and Ohio.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
