The USA Boxing National Championships Toledo Medalists.
Summary
WHEREAS, founded in 1988 and currently headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, “USA Boxing” is the non-profit, national governing body for Olympic-style amateur boxing, sanctioned by the United States Olympic Committee and the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) who sets its rules; and
WHEREAS, USA Boxing operates with the core principles of protecting athletes’ rights, safety and wellness, while championing the sport’s core values of integrity, leadership, service and standards of excellence; and
WHEREAS, in December 2022 and in February 2023, nine young men representing Toledo, OH (Yu’Marr Williams, Yu’Miere Williams, James Bragg, Nolan Huntley, Isaiah Derden, Lamar Stewart, Ryan Williams, John Winfree and Yu’shore Williams) competed and placed among other amateur boxers from boxing clubs across the country, for the 2022 USA Boxing National Championships (held in Lubbock, TX) and for the 2023 National Silver Gloves (held in Independence, MO); and
WHEREAS, the City of Toledo has a long, rich history of being home to an impressive list of boxing champions, and we are proud to support our local boxing community
; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That the USA Boxing Toledo Medalists are hereby recognized for positively representing the Toledo community and they are wished unlimited future success!
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
