SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Division of Road and Bridge Maintenance is responsible for maintenance and repair of all streets and alleys within the City of Toledo. Equipment is an important part in completing the projects that our city crews are tasked with on a daily basis. Without this equipment it would take crews much longer to complete projects. The division is currently experiencing a decline in working vehicles and is in need of replacement equipment and vehicles. These trucks are currently on the dealer lot and are ready for purchase. It is the intent of the division to use these trucks within all road and alley repair / maintenance programs. The trucks will also be outfitted with snow plows and salt spreaders and will be utilized for residential plowing operations.
Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That an amount not to exceed $1,100,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Capital Fund, Account Code 5040-25000-8CP2229SNWPLW for the purchase of equipment for the Toledo Department of Transportation Division of Road & Bridge Maintenance.
SECTION 2. That this Council finds it in the best interest of the City to waive the competitive procurement requirements of Toledo Municipal Code Chapter 187 for the purchase of the five (5) F-750 trucks with plows and four (4) F-350 pickup trucks with plows from Brondes Ford for the reason that supplies of new vehicles is extremely low and that these vehicles are currently on the lot and available for immediate sale.
