Recognizing Clara Petty of the Monroe Street Neighborhood Center on her retirement.

Summary
WHEREAS, after serving the community in many capacities over the years, Ms. Clara Petty is retiring from Monroe Street Neighborhood Center where she was the Executive Director for over fourteen years; and

WHEREAS, Clara is a proud alumna of Notre Dame Academy and the University of Toledo; she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Public Administration; and

WHEREAS, when Clara took over the position of Executive Director of Monroe Street Neighborhood Center, funding had been cut and was in a state of decline, in the years following under her direction the agency has been restructured and revived; and

WHEREAS, some of the greatest accomplishments for the Monroe Street Neighborhood Center during Clara's tenure were the implementation of Freedom School and the creation of Bluff Street Village; a project of a community development task force headed by the Board of Directors of Monroe Street Neighborhood Center and the Toledo Design Collective; and

WHEREAS, Clara has always taken academics very seriously and continues to stay current in her field by taking classes to gain CEUs required for her license; she was honored to speak as a panelist for the University of Notre Dame's Non-Profit Program within the Mendoza College of Business; and

WHEREAS, Clara is community minded and has received both local and regional recognition, she is an active member of Walk the Word Ministries Church, she also serves as committee chairman for the five state region in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated; Clara also serves as the National Trends Chairperson for The Links Incorporated and is responsible for their connection with local and national government; she also is the fundraising chairman for The Charms, and a member of Top Ladies of Distinction and is an Area 5 co...
