SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This ordinance authorizes the expenditure of $69,000 from trust funds for the purchase of ballistic shields from LC Action Police Supply, Ltd. Bids were solicited through Planet Bids and LC Action Police Supply, Ltd was the winning bidder.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the amount not to exceed $69,000 is authorized for expenditure from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund Account Code 2090-52000-3T32302STDSLC for the purchase of ballistic vests.

SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract for the purposes authorized in Section 1, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Director of Police and the Director of Law.

SECTION 3. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw their warrant or warrants against the above referenced Account Code in payment of the obligation authorized in Section 1 in an amount not to exceed $69,000 and upon presentation of proper voucher or vouchers.

SECTION 4. That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and property and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to timely procure safety equipment for the Police department.
