Title
Supporting the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services Renewal Levy; and declaring an emergency.

Summary
WHEREAS, the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County exists to enhance the well-being of our residents by promoting mental health, preventing substance abuse and facilitating a process of recovery for persons experiencing mental illness and/or alcohol and other drug disorders; and

WHEREAS, the MHRSB works with key community stakeholders including schools, law enforcement, courts and other social service agencies to maximize the highest quality, accessible services available and reduce the costs to the residents of Lucas County; and

WHEREAS, this renewal levy will generate much needed funds for programs that are seeing an increase in demand due to addiction, and with adolescent suicides on the rise, over 22,000 Lucas County Residents have received mental health and addiction services; NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the City of Toledo hereby supports the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services renewal levy and their efforts to assist those in need with a generation of $7,619,574 annually.

SECTION 2. This Resolution is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and welfare of the City, and for the further reason that this Resolution is required to be immediately effective in order to support the Mental Health & Recovery Services 1 mill, 10-year renewal levy; wherefore, this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
