SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
Toledo Fire and Rescue Department is requesting the purchase of 120 Bullard Firefighting Helmets. This equipment is an essential part of the firefighter's protective equipment ensemble, specifically mitigating traumatic and thermal burn type injuries as is common to offensive and victim rescue firefighting operations.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract for the purchase of 120 Bullard Firefighting Helmets. Said contract shall contain such terms and conditions as the Mayor may deem requisite and proper and shall be subject to approval by the Department of Law and the Director of Fire.

SECTION 2. That this Council finds and determines it is in the City's best interest to waive the competitive bid requirements of TMC Chapter 187 for the reason that Atlantic Emergency Solutions is the sole source provider of Bullard Firefighting Helmets which are essential for equipment uniformity and efficient and safe operations of the Fire and Rescue Department.

SECTION 3. That a sum not to exceed $33,600 is authorized for expenditure from the General Fund Account 1001-53000-3341002STDSTD for the purchase of 120 Bullard Firefighting Helmets

SECTION 4. That the Finance Director is authorized to draw a warrant or warrants against the above Account Code in payment of the above authorized obligations in an amount not to exceed $33,600 upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.
