SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
This Ordinance approves an agreement with the Lucas County Prosecutors Office for retaining the professional services of a Special Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for crime intelligence.

This Assistant's duties will be limited to prosecutorial duties related to the United States Department of Justice Crime Intelligence Center Program grant received by the City of Toledo Police Department from the United States Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) through the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). This agreement is funded through the grant proceeds, which were accepted and authorized for expenditure under Ordinance 495-20.

Summary
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

SECTION 1. That the Mayor is authorized to enter into a professional services agreement in an amount not to exceed $120,000 with the Lucas County Prosecutors Office for the purpose of retaining the services of a Lucas County Special Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.

SECTION 2. That this ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage. The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety, and for the further reason that this Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to comply with the requirements of the grant project period.
