SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The Division of Water Distribution utilizes crane trucks within the day-to-day operations to load and transport steel plates and trench and shoring safety equipment. The crane truck is used to load, unload, transport steel plates, and transport trenching and shoring safety equipment. Recently the crane truck was involved in an incident where the crane hit power lines causing catastrophic failure to the components.

 

The fiscal impact of this Ordinance is as follows:

The total amount to be expended in the above schedule is not to exceed $90,066.

 

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

SECTION 1. That the mayor is authorized to accept bids and awards contracts for the purchase and installation of one (1) HIAB Crane Winch and Remote Control, upon terms and conditions acceptable to the Directors of Law and Public Service.

 

SECTION 2.  That an amount not to exceed $90,066 is authorized for  appropriation from the unappropriated balance of the Water Replacement Fund to Account Code 6063-34000-4UC1321STDSTD; and further authorizing the expenditure of said funds for the purchase and installation of one (1) HIAB Crane Winch and Remote Control for the Division of Water Distribution.

 

 

SECTION 3.  That the Finance Director is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against the account code listed in Section 1 upon presentation of properly approved voucher or vouchers in a total amount not to exceed $90,066.

 

SECTION 4.  That this Ordinance, being an emergency measure, shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and property, and for the further reason that the Ordinance must be immediately effective in order to ensure that the vehicular fleet is equipped in a fashion supportive of continuous daily city services to the community.
