SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:
The Division of Engineering Services has been working closely with ODOT to secure grant funding through multiple funding programs for several projects. All amounts are grant dollars and are assigned to specific projects as follows:

A maximum of $390,190 has been allocated by ODOT through Safe Routes to School Funding for a sidewalk improvement project; multiple locations throughout the Washington Local School District will be upgraded with new sidewalks and crosswalks. Matching funds will be provided through the Division of Engineering Services Matches and Planning budget. Construction for this project is scheduled for 2023.

A maximum of $1,400,000 has been allocated by ODOT through Safety Funding for a reconstruction project; Summit Street at the Cherry Street intersection, including the reconstruction of Summit Street from Cherry Street to Jackson Street. Matching funds will be provided through the Division of Engineering Services Matches and Planning budget. Construction for this project is scheduled for 2023.

The matching funds will be proposed in the Division of Engineering Services 2023 Matches and Planning budgets.

Passage of this ordinance is required to enable the City of Toledo to accept outside funding for these projects and have it in place to help pay for these expenditures.
