Recognizing Ms. Latonia Reid.
Summary
WHEREAS, Ms. Latonia Reid acted in the best interest of the community when she stopped a potentially life-threatening situation by reporting a suspicious situation; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Reid is highly involved with the community through her career as an Intervention Specialist and Acting Dean at Scott High School for Toledo Public Schools, as well as through Bullseye Training Options LLC who specializes in Pistol Certification and Concealed Carry training classes; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Reid started with Toledo Public Schools in the early 2000’s as a paraprofessional and worked diligently to move into the positions she now holds; and
WHEREAS, on the night of March 30, 2020, Ms. Reid was exiting Sammie’s Carryout when she witnessed a female with a firearm, after making eye contact Ms. Reid left the location contacted police to report her suspicion; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Reid through her awareness and quick thinking was able to help the community avoid a more serious situation from happening; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo City Council recognizes the commitment to the community that Ms. Latonia Reid has shown through her career as an educator as well as a fire-arms instructor and dedicated community member.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
