Recognizing the 2019 Leaf Collection Workers for their exemplary performance.
Summary
WHEREAS, nine hardworking City of Toledo employees from the Division of Streets, Bridges and Harbor who served their community with distinction and went above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of Toledo residents; and
WHEREAS, despite the challenges posed by increasingly late leaf drops and early season snows, the 2019 leaf collection season was an unprecedented and historic success. City crews met their ambitious goal of collecting leaves in less than seven weeks. Leaf pick up personnel worked 59,986 total hours, during which 74,426 cubic yards of leaves were collected across 1,660.88 miles of city streets; and
WHEREAS, from November 4 to December 22, nine determined City of Toledo employees worked tirelessly from sunup to sundown to collect leaves throughout the city. Not one of these nine individuals missed a single minute of work during the entire leaf collection program. In fact, each went above and beyond what was required by working ten hours a day for forty-four days, a total of four hundred and forty hours each, with only four days off during the entire leaf collection season; and
WHEREAS, leaf collection is an integral part of maintaining a clean and healthy city. As the City of Toledo continues to face new challenges, may the work ethic of these nine individuals, and the ingenuity and dedication of the entire Division of Streets, Bridges and Harbor, serve as an inspiration to all; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That David Calzone, John Caulton, Tiffany Daniels, Dale Griffin, Silas Hobbs, Jr., Timothy O’Connor, Nick Ruggerio, William Stewart, and Raymond Wolfe are hereby commended for their hard-work, sacrifice, and tremendous contribution to our community during the 2019 leaf collection season.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
