Authorizing the Mayor to accept a donation from Old Newsboys Goodfellow Association, for the City of Toledo, Fire & Rescue Department; authorizing the deposit, appropriation and expenditure of $26,000 to provide Public Safety Training Equipment; and declaring an emergency.

SUMMARY & BACKGROUND:

The City of Toledo’s Fire and Rescue Department has received a donation from Old Newsboys Goodfellow Association for an amount not to exceed $26,000. This donation is to be used specifically for the purchase of two pre-arranged orders of public education equipment. One purchase will be for a Fire Extinguisher Training Simulator used for realistic hands on fire extinguisher training. And the remaining purchase will be for Rescue & Extrication Mannequins used to provide realistic rescue training situations. The Toledo Old Newsboys Paper has made this donation to the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department’s Public Education Efforts. This donation is being made with the intention to better equip the TFRD’s Public Education Officer in the goal of furthering training, education, and awareness of citizens in fire safety, prevention, and protection.

Summary

NOW, THEREFORE, Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Toledo:

 

                     SECTION 1.  That the Mayor is authorized to accept a donation from the Old Newsboys Goodfellow Association in an amount not to exceed $26,000 for the purchase of two pre-arranged orders of public education equipment.

 

SECTION 2.  That the said funds shall be deposited in Account Code 1001-408930-3341002STDSTD Gifts and Donations and authorizing an increase in the revenue estimate of the General Fund of $26,000.

 

SECTION 3.  That the sum of $26,000 is appropriated from the unappropriated donation proceeds of the General Fund to Accounting Code 1001-53000-3341002STDSTD and the expenditure of same is authorized for the purchase of public education equipment.

 

SECTION 4.  That the Director of Finance is authorized to draw his warrant or warrants against Account Code 1001-53000-3341002STDSTD in an amount not to exceed $26,000 in payment of the above authorized obligations upon presentation of the proper voucher or vouchers.

 

SECTION 5.  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure and shall be in force and effect from and after its passage.  The reason for the emergency lies in the fact that it is necessary for the immediate benefit of public education and fire safety for the citizens of Toledo.

 

                     Vote on emergency clause:  yeas 12, nays 0.
