Recognizing Toledo Firefighter DeAndre “Axeman” Ware for capturing three vacant super middleweight regional boxing titles.
Summary
WHEREAS, Toledo Firefighter DeAndre Ware captured three vacant super middleweight regional titles February 1, 2019 by scoring a majority decision against previously unbeaten Ronald Ellis; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ware earned the North American Boxing Association, United States Boxing Organization, and the World Boxing Council Continental Americas 168-pound titles by winning the 10-round bout that was broadcast on Showtime; and
WHEREAS, he is a Toledo native, has a wife and two children-a daughter and a son; is a St. John’s Jesuit graduate, and works two jobs, including working 24-hour shifts with the Toledo Fire & Rescue Department generally working 48-72 hours a week; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ware has been a pro boxer since the end of 2014; NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Toledo:
SECTION 1. That Toledo Firefighter DeAndre Ware is hereby recognized for his extraordinary achievements in capturing three vacant super middleweight regional boxing titles.
SECTION 2. That this Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law
